MY ORIGINAL DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD ARTICLE

The new girl on the block!
YouTube is one of the most popular sites on the internet. More than 13 hours of videos are uploaded every minute; it's pretty much a million-to-one chance that your videos will ever be noticed by anyone who can make you famous. So what’s so special about Abbi Kent? We’ve brought her in to find out!
Abbi, came strolling into our office at 9.50am she had a star bucks in one hand and her iphone in the other, like many other celebrities Abbi posted videos on YouTube and cracked  the hard  music industry like many other biggest a-list celebs such as Justin bieber and Esmee Denters who also started off on YouTube!

Hiya Abbi! We’re glad you’re well we want to start off by asking you a couple of questions...

Coming into the industry at such a young age, in what ways have you been forced to grow up fast?
I don’t think I’m being forced to grow up really fast. I mean, I have to make some sacrifices to not see my friends as often or not be in a regular school environment. But besides that, I’m doing what I love. I’m performing; I’m in the studio, so everything’s going good.
What was the first song you ever played?
I sung cover versions for weddings and in clubs, I used to make my own songs up too, just silly ones and sing them for all my friends and family (looks embarrassed) I also used to love singing the spice girls!

Okay, that’s great!  Can you choose three words that best describe your music
Oh that’s a hard one! I can say my music is fresh, young , fun however  some songs on my album which will be out in the next couple of months are dark which obviously isn’t fun!

That’s great we can’t wait for your album to be out! Can you tell our readers what you are going to be up to in the next few months
in the next couple of months hopefully i can release my album and I will be announcing who I’m going to tour with! Also I want to take a few days break as it’s my sisters and mum’s birthday and I want to treat them to  a couple days holiday and I am making a few appearances around my hometown and I want to go visit my family as well.

So a busy schedule for the next few months! So have you always wanted to be singer/songwriter?
Yes and no! I have always wanted to be a singer but it was just so hard to get recognised i started to think about my options and wanted to be a vet, I had a place on a veterinary course, but when the opportunity for me to have a singing career came around, I realised I want to be a singer more than a vet.

Outside of music, what are your personal interests?I love fashion so I like to shop, I love hanging out with my friends and also I love playing football!

And what similarities do you find between football and the music business? Are there any rules or strategies that you think fit with both?
Well, both of them can be very physical. And both of them can get dirty! [Laughing]

That’s brilliant! It’s good to have some options! Can you tell us who do you aspire to be like or look up to?My mum, not singing wise but the way she treats people and her reputation for being a kind person but Well, I love John Lennon because of how he put so much emotion in the poetry that he’s written with his music. He’s one of the most passionate and one of the best songwriters ever to step foot on the planet, I believe.

Outside of the meaning, what do you think really makes a great song?
A good bridge.

So when you look at your album, as it is right now, what song do you think has the best bridge?
‘Outside the lines’

That’s great I can’t wait to hear it! Have you got any advice or wisdom... so far on how to break the music industry and get recognised? I was given this advice by a dear friend just as I was going into a really important meeting, if you have a dream of singing, pursue it - go somewhere where they'll test you properly and make you realise whether you can make this dream come true or not.

Vocal coach Lyndia Johnson, executive director of Sterling Voice Coaching, Ltd. in London says that aspiring singers must know how to take care of their voices before thinking about breaking into the music industry.

So how do you look after your voice?I am very aware of how easy it is to damage your voice I am very careful, I drink tons of water, and I don’t smoke and hardly drink.

Many A- list singers such as Cheryl Cole and Christina Aguilera have been saw smoking health experts say A 2010 Study by the CDC's National Centre for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion found that cigarette smoke contains over 4,800 chemicals, 69 of which are known to cause lung cancer.

Abbi we hear at TMG wish you the best with your forthcoming album and I look forward to seeing you grow and develop. So keep your head up, stay out of trouble.
Well, thank you so much. It’s been an honour.
